FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — An effort is underway to help soldiers and their families in times of need.

The Army Emergency Relief Campaign kicked off at Fort Bragg on Tuesday.

Last year the charity distributed more than $4.5 million to Fort Bragg families.

Army emergency relief provides interest free loans, grants and scholarships.

“We’re just really trying to bring awareness to the program, let soldiers know that we’re here and if they have a need that they know where to go to get their financial needs or their emergency needs met,” said Darla Curedon, Army Emergency Relief.
