2 teens and young man charged in armed robbery of NC newspaper workers

CARTHAGE, N.C. – Two teens and a young man were arrested Tuesday in the Feb. 13 robbery of two newspaper workers in Aberdeen.

Police arrested Scottie Wayne Hagen Jr., 21 , of Pinehurst charged him robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Raquan Shaheim Chisholm, age 18, from Saylor Street in Southern Pines and Brandon David Kerns, also 18, from Sundown Road in Vass were also both charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.

At around 3:15 a.m. on Feb. 13, a truck driver delivering newspapers and a local newspaper route carrier for the Fayetteville Observer were in a Speedway convenience store parking lot in Aberdeen when they were approached and robbed by a man with a handgun.

Hagen was transported to the Moore County Detention Center where he was held under a $250,000 secure bond. His first scheduled date in court is March 22.

Chisholm was transported to the Moore County Detention Center where he was held under a $100,000.00 secure bond. His first scheduled date in court is March 22, 2016

Kerns was transported to the Moore County Detention Center where he was released under a $50,000.00 unsecured bond. His first scheduled date in court is March 22, 2016

The Aberdeen Police Department was assisted by officers with the Moore County Sheriff’s Department and the Southern Pines Police Department with the investigation and arrest.
