WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) — Snoop Dogg is coming to the Port City to perform at the 2016 Azalea Festival.
Officials say Snoop will take to the Belk Main Stage on Friday, April 8 with opening act Doug E. Fresh. Last year, Nelly appeared on the main stage.
“Snoop Dogg is an icon in the evolution of hip-hop and of our generation. His fame extends out of the music business; as an actor his laid back personality has endeared him to many outside the hip-hop industry,” said Robby Collins, president of the North Carolina Azalea Festival.
Tickets will be $46.50 and showtime is set for 7 p.m. with doors opening at 5 p.m. Officials say this is a rain or shine event. No refunds will be granted.
Online tickets sales began at 9 a.m. Saturday and as of 7 p.m. some were still available.
They can be purchased through www.ncazaleafestival.org. Tickets will also go on sale at the Azalea Festival’s ticket office on Monday, March 7 at 9 a.m. Tickets will be the same price online or at the office.
The festival’s ticket office is open Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 5725 Oleander Drive, Suite B-7.
Snoop Dogg joins The Avett Brothers and Chase Rice as the three musical acts scheduled for this year’s festival.
The Avett Brothers will perform April 7 and Rice will take to the stage April 9.
