FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A fire damaged law offices in a historic building in downtown Fayetteville on Monday evening.
Fayetteville Assistant Fire Chief R. Bradshaw said the fire was reported at 6:11 p.m. at Downing and Downing Attorneys located at 219 Dick Street off Russell Street.
“First arriving units reported a two story, large wood frame dwelling with heavy fire and smoke visible from the second floor,” Bradshaw said.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the second floor and front office area of the building.
However, the second floor experienced smoke damage along with some water damage to the first floor, officials said.
The building is a home that was built in 1917, remodeled in the 1970s and was converted for business use, according to a real estate listing from Grant-Murray Real Estate. The 4,200 square foot building was listed for sale at $495,000.
The law offices had closed for the day when the fire was reported, Bradshaw said.
There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation, according to Bradshaw.
Damage estimates weren’t immediately available.
