K-9 deputy finds heroin in NC woman’s truck, officials say

GOLDSBORO (WNCT) – A young woman was was charged with possession of heroin Sunday after being stopped for registration violations in Wayne County.

The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team in Wayne County conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet truck for violations of the driver’s registration.

After the traffic stop, a K-9 unit alerted on the vehicle and officials then searched the truck, according to Wayne County authorities. The woman who was driving was found to be in possession of heroin and various items of paraphernalia, authorities say.

Rebecca Michelle Brown, age 22, of the 500 block of Huffmantown Road in Richlands was charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was taken into custody and placed in the Wayne County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond.

Brown was previously arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia in July of 2014. She was put on probation.

This is the second heroin-related charge in the area in the last week.

On March 5, three men were put behind bars for possessing a kilo of heroin.
