YADKINVILLE, N.C. — A building that housed a restaurant and five other businesses was destroyed in a fire Monday morning.
The fire was reported around 6:15 a.m. in the 1100 block of West Main Street near Lee Avenue. No injuries were reported, and what little was left of the structure had to be torn down.
The family-owned Los Jarritos restaurant was in the building, along with a hair salon, a child psychologist, a painting company, a temporary employment company and the Yadkin County United Fund. All six businesses were displaced.
More than 60 firefighters responded to the scene. Smoke and flames were showing when firefighters arrived, said Yadkinville police Chief Tim Parks. Flames reached the roof, and smoke from the fire could be seen at least a mile away.
The fire started somewhere in Los Jarritos, fire officials toldWXII’s Michelle Kennedy. The cause of the fire is still being investigated by Yadkinville police and the SBI.
Yadkinville investigators had to wait several hours to walk inside the building for the first time, Parks said. Old Highway 421, which turns into Main Street, was shut down for several hours.
Thankfully, no one was hurt in the fire.
