BUCYRUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A 16-year-old high school junior is in the fight of his life after an accident on the basketball court.

It happened February 27. Noah Lear was playing basketball with a couple friends at a church in Bucyrus, Ohio, when the post snapped in half and the backboard and hoop came crashing into his face.

Noah was able to call his mom before he was rushed to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. He had severe injuries to his face and his head, and at the hospital he went into cardiac arrest.

Oxygen was then cut off to his brain and in the weeks to follow his condition worsened. He has now been moved to a hospice facility in Ashland.

A fundraiser is planned for Saturday, April 2, at Bucyrus High School to help the family with the unexpected expenses.
