US 1 reopens after crash involving pedestrian

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Several lanes of US 1/Capital Blvd. were closed near  I-540 for about 2 hours on Monday night after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle, Raleigh Police said.

The incident happened just after 8 p.m. between Old Wake Forest Road and I-540  and closed four of the five northbound lanes, according to police.

The pedestrian who was hit suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, police said.

All lanes reopened just after 10 p.m., but heavy traffic was still seen in the area.
