RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A single-vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 40 near Wade Avenue in Wake County left a Raleigh man dead Monday morning.
A wreck report from Raleigh police shows that a vehicle went off on the I-40 westbound ramp to Wade Avenue at exit 289 around 6:30 a.m. and into some trees.
The driver, Norman Arnold Kelly, 37, died, according to Raleigh police.
Norman was driving a work vehicle for Enhanced Heating and Cooling, according to the report.
He left the road, overcorrected, slid on wet grass and then hit a tree, the report stated.
Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene.
The ramp onto Wade Avenue was closed as crews worked to clear the scene.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash and whether distracted driving played a role, according to a warrant.
