84 NC families displaced by house fires; Red Cross in dire need of donations

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – The Red Cross is seeking donations to help 84 families who recently lost their homes in fires in Eastern North Carolina.

On average, in a 24-hour period, house fires displace five families, according the Red Cross. These numbers are for families living in the eastern part of the state.

The Red Cross is seeking donations to continue to help families who have lost their homes in recent fires and those who may lose their home in the future.

“Families in Eastern North Carolina depend on the Red Cross in times of disaster. We are there to provide comfort, shelter, food and guidance,” said Barry Porter, regional chief executive of the Red Cross, in a written release. “With the high demand of assistance, we rely on our generous donors to support our work and their neighbors.”
