CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) – Google Fiber has begun the installation of its fiber network infrastructure in the Town of Chapel Hill, the town said in a news release.
The work is to lay the preliminary infrastructure of the network and will include work in a smalll number of neighborhoods. When work does begin in neighborhoods to connect homes, advance notification to property owners is typically done by leaving door-hangers, the town said..
Chapel Hill residents who have questions or concerns about the ongoing fiber optic cable installation underway throughout the community can receive assistance with the Town of Chapel Hill at townofchapelhill.org/fiberwork.
Google Fiber trucks have also been seen around Raleigh as Google begins to roll out its service.
Google Fiber is Google’s Gigabit Internet service that offers Internet connection speeds for homes and businesses up to 100 times faster than today’s average broadband, as well as TV service with hundreds of high-definition channels.
