FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – The Fayetteville Police Department is investigating a homicide, after a man was shot and killed Saturday just before midnight on Lands End Road.
The deceased man was identified as Myles David Penix, 27, of the 400 block of Lands End Road.
Further investigation revealed that Penix was in a room at his home with a “known associate” when he was shot once in the chest, police said in a press release.
On Sunday night, Detectives charged Ryan Daniel Walker, 24, of the 3500 block of Shipstone Place in Hope Mills, with first degree murder.
Penix and Walker were both United States Army Soldiers in F Company, 2nd Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg North Carolina.
Walker has been processed into the Cumberland County Detention Center where he remains without bond.
