HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (WNCN) — A man who was recently married died after a wreck near the entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway in Haywood County Friday morning, sources say.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the wreck happened around 9 a.m. when the man was driving east on the Great Smoky Mountain Expressway and lost control of his car.
The driver attempted to gain control of the car but crossed the median and hit an oncoming vehicle in the passenger’s side, troopers said.
WLOS-TV identified the man who died as Aaron Snider, age 32, of Canton.
Troopers say Snider was pronounced dead at the scene, while the female driver of the other vehicle was transported to Mission Hospital. WLOS-TV reported that the female driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Friends and family on social media said that Snider was recently married and returned from a honeymoon earlier this month.
“Please pray for my cousin Tiffany Snider, today she lost her husband Aaron Snider — they had just started to begin their life together… keep her in your thoughts,” wrote Tammy West Garrett on Facebook.
“My cousin Aaron Snider was an awesome, caring and hardworking young man who has gone home to be with the Lord. My heart is saddened by his loss and I’m again reminded of what is truly important,” Boyd Ammons Jr. wrote on Facebook.
Snider worked at Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino and Hotel and was a graduate of Wren High School, according to his Facebook profile.
