$1 million bond for NC trio who stole $21,000 worth of guns, deputies say

ASH, N.C. (WECT) — Authorities in Brunswick County arrested three men Saturday for reportedly stealing over $21,000 worth of guns from a building in Ash.

According to arrest warrants, Shane Bradley Battles, 21, Christopher William Burch, 18, and Jacob Isaac Reed Caulder, 18, all of Ash, were all charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering and felony safecracking.

The trio is accused of breaking into a building in the 2400 block of Mill Drive and stealing a stack-on gun safe that contained numerous rifles, shotguns and pistols, according to warrants.

Items in the safe included Marlin Model 60.22 Caliber rifles, Mendoza .22 Caliber Rifles, Henry .22 Caliber Rifles, H&R Single Shot 12-gauge shotgun, and approximately 4500 rounds of various calibers of ammunition. The total value of the property stolen was $21,790.

Battles was found with a plastic bag and two smoking pipes the day of his arrest, and was additionally charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

All three were placed in the Brunswick County Detention Center under a $1 million bond.
