Baby and boy were in NC woman’s car during hit-and-run crash, police say

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — An Asheville woman has been charged with driving away from a crash with two children in her car Saturday.

Ariel Destinique Gamble, age 25, faces several charges, including a hit and run inflicting injury felony, possession of schedule II controlled substance felony, two counts of child abuse misdemeanor, driving while impaired and without a license.

A 6-year-old boy in the car suffered cuts and bruises, the Asheville Citizen-Times reported citing a warrant. The 1-year-old in the car was apparently unhurt.

The drug charge was for felony possession of cocaine, the newspaper reported.

The incident happened on North Bear Creek Road shortly before 8 p.m. on Saturday, according to the Asheville Police Department.

She is currently at the Buncombe County Detention Center on a $20,000 bond.
