NC man charged in connection with Moore County shooting

VASS, N.C. (WNCN) – A Moore County man was arrested in connection with a shooting on Wright Road last week, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Sheriff Neil Godfrey announced the arrest of Zachary Gautier, 23, of Vass, for felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill for an incident that occurred last week.

The sheriff’s office said they received a call around 7:50 p.m. on March 23 about a subject covered in blood walking near the area where an occupied vehicle had been shot multiple times.

Sheriff’s deputies located the victim and assisted the victim in getting medical treatment.

Gautier has been charged with one count of felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, one count of felony discharging a weapon into occupied property, one count of felony assault on a law enforcement officer causing physical injury as well as other charges.

Gautier was placed in the Moore County Detention Center under a $100,000.00 secured bond. His first court appearance was set for April 26.

Gautier was also charged with probation violation warrants form Harnett County and received an additional $5,000.00 secured bond.
