DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – A 31-year-old man has been charged with felony child abuse after his 8-year-old son died Sunday in a Raleigh hospital.
Raleigh police were called to an area hospital after the boy died Sunday. An investigation revealed the boy was abused while in Durham with his father, police said.
Thomas Harrison, Jr., of Durham, was arrested and charged with felony child abuse. A warrant connected to the charges against Harrison say the victim complained of stomach pains and vomited several times before he died.
He is in the Durham County Jail under a $1.5 million bond.
An obituary for the boy, Jonathan “MileMile” Miles Pittman, said he was the son of Harrison and Chanda Pittman. Jonathan Pittman loved video games and sports, the obituary said.
Jonathan Pittman’s funeral is scheduled for Friday in Raleigh and with another service in Durham planned for Saturday.
The case remains under investigation.
