Missing NC teens found, charged with manslaughter and child abuse

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Two teens missing from Asheville were found safe at a campsite in Pisgah National Forest, according to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office.

Winston Aaron Eccleston and Lacey Nicole Mathews, both age 17, were found at a remote campsite in Transylvania County, Friday evening. Both were in good condition when they were found.

Both were reported missing by a family members on March 11.

However, both teens have been charged with involuntary manslaughter and felony child abuse as a result of an ongoing investigation, according to officials with the Woodfin Police Department.

Both Eccleston and Mathews were transported to the Buncombe County Detention Center where they are being held on bond.

While the pair were missing, officials did not reveal the pair were part of an ongoing investigation and may be eluding authorities.

No details were available about the possible victim of the alleged involuntary manslaughter and felony child abuse charges.
