SC man charged with kidnapping hours after teen missing from Myrtle Beach is found

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WNCN) – A teenage girl who was missing from Myrtle Beach is safe and a kidnapping suspect is in custody after Savannah  officers made an arrest Saturday afternoon.

Georgia police arrested Mike Roscoe Small, 27, of North Charleston and charged him with kidnapping across state lines and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The investigation started in Myrtle Beach on Monday, March 28 when the 16-year-old girl was reported missing by her family.

At about 2 p.m. Saturday, the victim notified family members that she was in Savannah, GA, who then told Myrtle Beach investigators who contacted SCMPD.

Officials have not said which teen was involved in the alleged kidnapping, but Katelyn Mullinax, also age 16, of Clover, disappeared the same day while in Myrtle Beach with her family.   Myrtle Beach Police announced around 3 p.m. Saturday that Katelyn was found, but was not yet reunited with her family.

Savannah officers converged on the suspect’s vehicle around 2:40 p.m. and arrested Small who he will be brought back to Myrtle Beach.  Small also faces outstanding warrants in Georgia and Texas.

The teen, who reportedly had no prior contact with Small before March 28, was safely recovered by Georgia officers.
