CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) — If you’re a Tar Heels fan and you couldn’t be in Houston, the Dean Dome was likely the next best place.
Thousands were packing the stands of the Dean E. Smith Center in a sea of Carolina Blue.
“The whole spirit of Carolina is a notch above anywhere we’ve ever been,” Gwyneth Johnson said.
And that’s why Johnson and her son, Chandler, came down from Pittsburgh.
“We made the eight hour drive down and we’re having an absolute blast,” Chandler Johnson said.
That’s right, 8 hours one way just to watch the Tar Heels play in the Final Four.
Then there was Jenna Kate Swanson. At one month old, she’s likely the youngest Carolina fan in the crowd.
“I went to school here but never came and did this. So its fun to bring my kids here and raise them right,” Kris Swanson.
Jenna Kate was properly attired right down to the booties. And that crying, likely the result of all the excitement.
Finally, meet Elizabeth Brusinsowski and Mark Ferguson, they’re a house divided.
“He’s actually pretty good cool about it. If Syracuse beats them or vice versa but its all good,” Brusinowski said.
“It’s pretty hectic. But right now the fans, they’ve been cool about it right now. So I’m hoping it stays like that for the rest of the game,” Ferguson said.
