Man, woman charged with having meth lab at home with children

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – Deputies arrested two people after they found a meth lab inside a home with three children.

It happened Tuesday when the Craven County Sheriff’s Office received a call about conducting a welfare check at a home off Antioch Road in Bridgeton.

Deputies arriving at the scene said they found the meth lab inside a home, along with two adults and three children, ages 7, 11, and 13 years old. They contacted the Department of Social Services, which responded, as well as the SBI, which responded to perform the safe disposal of the lab.

26-year-old Timothy Lee Carawan was arrested and charged with Manufacture Methamphetamine, Maintaining a Dwelling to Manufacture a Controlled Substance, Possession/Distribute Meth Precursor, Felony Conspiracy, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and child abuse. He was placed in the Craven County Jail on a $250,000 bond. His first appearance is slated for Craven County District Court on April 6th.

30-year-old Rebecca Faye Johnson was arrested and charged with Felony Conspiracy and child abuse. She was placed in the Craven County Jail on a $250,000 bond. She has a first appearance slated for Craven County District Court on April 6th.

The investigation is still underway and more charges are possible.
