APEX, N.C. (WNCN) – The Apex Police are investigating the deaths Monday of an elderly couple in an apparent murder-suicide in a quiet residential neighborhood on Old Grove Lane.
The police arrived on the scene at a rental home shortly after 10 a.m. after the initial call came in through the Wake County Sheriff’s Office.
Apex Police identified the bodies as Hallie Kenneth Price Jr. and Jean Byrd Price, both 70.
An ambulance and units from the fire department were also on the scene.
Captain Blair Hyland of the Apex Police said the death was not caused by carbon monoxide but would not say the exact cause of the deaths. He said there was no threat to the neighborhood and the police were alerting neighbors they were safe.
Neighbor Niva Dague said the entire incident unfolded quietly.
“I was going out for a walk and saw the police cut off the road,” she said. “I didn’t really see anything.”
She said police told her the road was closed except to people who lived there.
