EDEN, N.C. (WXII) — Flames erupted Monday morning at the Arbor Ridge at Eden Retirement Home in Rockingham County and one person is unaccounted for and three residents were injured.
The fire started about 1:40 a.m. at the retirement home on Kennedy Street in Eden.
The director of Arbor Ridge said 46 of 47 residents are currently accounted four. Fire Chief Tommy Underwood said three residents were sent to the hospital with injuries.
Underwood said firefighters saw flames as high as 30 feet in the air when they arrived on the scene. He also said the lower end of the facility was affected most by fire damage.
No firefighters were injured.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
