Thieves breaking into Chapel Hill homes through 2nd story windows

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) – The Chapel Hill Police said Tuesday that there has been a rash of break-ins recently through second-story windows.

In most cases, the police said, the windows were left unlocked.

The police urged residents to:

  • Lock all doors and windows
  • Install dead-bolts on all doors
  • Use floodlights
  • Remove any outdoor items that could help someone access the second story
  • Make your home look occupied
  • Don’t keep spare keys outside
  • Consider getting an alarm system
