CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) – A UNC Chapel Hill student had $60 and a pair of shoes stolen in an armed robbery Friday morning on campus, university officials said.
Officials at the UNC issued an “all clear” message to the campus community about an hour after emergency alerts were activated just before 1 a.m.
Emergency sirens, along with text, email, and other messages were sent as an alert to warn of “a report of an armed and dangerous person on or near campus.”
The armed robbery that was reported at about 12:40 a.m. near Ehringhaus Residence Hall on campus.
Officials said the victim is a male student.
The suspect is described as a male with a goatee, 5’10” tall, about 20-25 years old. His face was partly covered with a ski mask and he was wearing a Dallas Cowboys jacket and sweatpants.
Police say he left on foot after the crime. They have not confirmed if the suspect has been apprehended.
