6 arrested, 2 on the run after Halifax County drug raids

WELDON, N.C. (WNCN) – The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and local police executed search warrants in Weldon Saturday morning and made multiple drug arrests and recovered cocaine and marijuana.

The Halifax County City County Drug Task Force, along with the Hazardous Entry and Arrest Team, and the Weldon Police Department Division executed a search warrant at a home on East Seventh Street just before 4:30 a.m.

Ten dosage units of cocaine packaged for sale, marijuana, a marijuana grinder, box of plastic bags, a digital scale and other drug paraphernalia were recovered during the raid.

Those arrested include:

Antoinette Harris, 33, with felony possession of cocaine, possession with the intent to sell/deliver cocaine, maintain a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession of marijuana up to ½ ounce, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Harris was also served with an outstanding Halifax County arrest warrant for failure to appear in district court for obtaining property by false pretense. Harris was processed at the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office where she was given a $15,000 secured bond. He was given a May 25 court date.

Arturo Romero Jr., 33, for an outstanding civil paper and a Halifax County arrest warrant for failure to appear in district court on April 20, 2015 for driving while license revoked. Romero was given a $1,600 secured bond with a May 2 court date.

Taurean Shaw, 21, for an outstanding warrant for arrest for second degree trespass. Shaw was given a $400 bond with a May 18 court date.

Elvis Williams, 30, and Anthony Ellis, 42, were cited for simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were both given a May 25 court date.

The following were arrested on felony drug charges as part of an undercover operation conducted on April 14 in the areas of Medoc, Ringwood and the town limits of Enfield.

Raheem Deron Cooper, 22, of Enfield was arrested during a traffic stop on South Dennis Street near Low Ground Road in Enfield. During the traffic stop agents seized marijuana and it was confirmed that Cooper was driving while license revoked. Cooper was charged with possessing marijuana up to ½ ounce, driving while license revoked and served with the outstanding warrant for possession with the intent to sell/deliver cocaine, sell cocaine, and deliver cocaine. Cooper was given a $420,000 bond.

Travis Sherroy Lynch, 32, of the Medoc area was arrested at his home for conspire to sell/deliver cocaine. Lynch was given a $2,500 bond.

William Allen, 66, of the Medoc area, was arrested at the convenience store in Medoc. Allen was served with a warrant for possession with the intent to sell/deliver cocaine, sell cocaine, deliver cocaine, and conspire to sell/deliver cocaine. Allen was given a $10,000 bond.

Cooper, Lynch, and Allen were given a May 25, 2016 court date.

Six people were arrested and two were cited in the two operations.

Derrick Hilliard, 23, of the Ringwood area, possession with the intent to sell/deliver cocaine, sell cocaine, and deliver cocaine.

Michael Whitaker II, 34, of Enfield, possession with the intent to sell/deliver cocaine, sell cocaine, deliver cocaine, and larceny.
