RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A five-year-old Raleigh girl, who’s had a rough time lately, had a birthday wish come true Sunday afternoon.
With an invitation to a ball, Abby Johnson grabbed her Sunday best and headed to her very own princess party in a horse-drawn carriage.
“She’s an amazing little girl,” said David Johnson, Abby’s dad.
“She’s just the sweetest little girl, and so friendly, and so very strong,” added Donna Topolosky, Abby’s grandmother.
But it hasn’t always been a fairy tale for Abby. She was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in January.
After the diagnosis, Abby’s relatives in Pittsburgh teamed up with Jamie’s Dream Team, people making wishes, come true.
“It’s really nice that everybody did this to come here and see her before we start something a 5-year-old shouldn’t have to go through,” Lisa Johnson, Abby’s mother, told CBS North Carolina,
In May, Abby will start chemotherapy.
“She’s going to have her toughest fight ahead,” Topolosky said. “So, to give her a day just everything happy and magical, that’s the best.”
