Four Apex stores charged in underage alcohol sting

APEX, N.C. – During a sting operation April 15 in Apex, 11 businesses were checked for compliance with laws against selling alcohol to minors. Four failed.

The Apex Police Department found four locations where an underage person was able to purchase alcohol. All four clerks were cited for Sale of Alcohol to a Person less than 21 years of age.

The stores where alcohol was purchased are: Marathon at 321 S. Salem Street, Shell Station at 902 US Highway 64, Center Street Grocery at 808 Center Street and Kangaroo at 705 E. Williams Street.

The Apex Police Department reminds employees of locations that sell alcohol to look at the ID closely and to verify the age.
