NC driver charged in hit-and-run that killed woman

FARMVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – A Rocky Mount woman is facing felony charges connected to a  weekend fatal hit and run case near Farmville.

North Carolina Highway Patrol Troopers said Tuesday morning that they arrested 24-year-old Ashley Dawn Hardison in Greene County, charging her with Felony Hit and Run.

They added that Hardison was driving a F-150 truck when she hit and killed Barbara Ann Lindsey around 12:15 a.m. Sunday morning. Troopers said Hardison left the scene of the crash on US 258 near Farmville.

Lindsey, age 53, of Farmville worked at Clover City Internet Café, according to their Facebook page.

Many people in the community knew Lindsey and are saddened by her death.

“She was a lovely lady as also a very lovely person. And yes she will be missed. RIP Mrs. Barbara,” wrote Wanda Twyman Taylor on the business Facebook page, where many people shared their condolences.

Officials are continuing their investigation examining the truck, adding that it has damage to the front passenger window and door.

Hardison is booked at the Pitt County Detention Center under a $26,000 bond. She’s expected to appear in court on May 11.
