NC teacher accused of sexually assaulting students

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A Charlotte teacher is accused of sexually assaulting two students during the 2012-2013 school year.

Jarrett Murgulo, 35, was charged Tuesday with two counts of indecent liberties with a student and one count of sexual activity with a student. Murgulo is a teacher at Countryside Montessori School in north Charlotte.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say detectives launched an investigation into the sexual assault case after the Crimes Against Children Unit was notified about the case.

Two former female students told detectives they were sexually assaulted by Murgulo when they were seniors at Countryside Montessori School, during the 2012-2013 school year.

Murgolo voluntarily went to police headquarters Tuesday morning. Following the questioning, he was arrested, charged and sent to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Countryside Montessori School’s website, Murgolo was a history teacher for 9-12th graders and the supervising lead teacher for 7th and 8th graders.
