Clayton man dies after being shot near Fayetteville home, police say

Fayetteville Police are investigating a shooting that happened on Ashbrook Court on May 3, 2016.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – A man was rushed to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with a life-threatening gunshot wound early Tuesday morning, Fayetteville Police said.

Investigators said they were called to the 600 block of Ashbrook Court just after midnight for a report of a shooting.

Police said a man was shot near the front door of a home. Investigators don’t think the shooting was random, but they do not have a suspect in custody.

The victim was identified as Marcus Andre Calhoun, 22, of Clayton. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are actively investigating the shooting.
