WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) — Wilmington police officials say they’ve completed their investigation and will not file any charges in the death of UNCW student Connor Vogel.
Investigators say Vogel, 22, and another man engaged in a consensual sparring match during the early morning hours of April 16.
Vogel fell to the ground during the fight and suffered injuries to his head, which eventually led to his death.
Vogel was a 2012 graduate of Coastal Christian High School and was studying software programming and coding at UNC-Wilmington, according to his family and friends.
Wilmington police released the following statement:
After a full review of the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident, the Wilmington Police Department, in conjunction with the District Attorney’s office, have determined that no charges are expected to be filed against anyone involved.
