1 charged, 1 sought in murder of Clayton man, police say

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — One person is charged and another is being sought in the shooting death of a Clayton man in Fayetteville early Tuesday.

Marcus Andre Calhoun 22, of Clayton was shot just after midnight at a home in Fayetteville in the 600 block of Ashbrook Court, Fayetteville Police said.

Calhoun died after being taken to a nearby hospital.

Antonio Dwayne Evans, 29, of the 6600 block of Amanda Circle is charged with First Degree Murder. In March, Evans was shot by Joseph Cason, who in April gunned down his brother, Thomas Evans, in a food store parking lot after a high-speed gunfight.

Evans was caught late Tuesday night, without incident, in the 300 block of Locklear Street, police said.

He is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center with no bond.

Detectives have also identified Arthur William Butler, 35, of the 2700 block of Decatur Avenue Bronx, New York as a suspect in the murder.

Detectives have obtained warrants charging Butler with First Degree Murder and are asking for the public’s assistance with locating Butler.
