RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Two men were injured in a shooting in downtown Raleigh Wednesday night and one of the injured is facing drug charges, police said.
Raleigh Police received a call for a shooting around 9:20 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Swain Street near Lenoir Street.
Police said that both men were taken to WakeMed for treatment non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
One man, Gabriel Cortez Peele, 25, with a listed address of Washington, North Carolina, was released from the hospital and charged with possession with intent to sell a Schedule II drug and with the manufacture, sale, delivery or possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school. Peele was within 1,000 feet of Ligon Middle School.
Police said Peele had 7 grams of crack cocaine.
The shooting is still under investigation.
