Former Tenn. substitute teacher charged with slapping student

TULLAHOMA, Tenn. (WKRN) – A former substitute teacher in Tullahoma was arrested on April 27 for allegedly slapping a student in February.

According to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department, 35-year-old Jennifer Huskey is accused of “backhanding” a student at the school in the mouth at Bel Aire School.

The warrant claims she allegedly struck the child, causing his lip to bleed. The student reportedly said he needed to go tell and Huskey refused to let him leave the room.

The student claims he was looking for his paper on the teacher’s desk when the incident occurred, according to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department.

Huskey charged with child abuse neglect and is free on a $10,000 bond.
