DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – Durham Police have responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 eastbound near the North Carolina Highway 55 exit, police said.
Officials said they dispatched Durham Fire and Rescue crews to I-40 eastbound near exit 278 at approximately 5:15 a.m. Friday. The call came in as a car flipped over in a creek, police said.
CBS North Carolina has a crew on scene. Video sent back to the station shows a car that rolled down an embankment, but it doesn’t appear to be in the creek. The driver was not seen at the site of the wreck.
Police said they have no other information at this time.
The exit ramp for N.C. Highway 55 was closed for nearly two hours.
