RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A fox that is believed to have attacked a dog Thursday and then a woman Friday tested positive for rabies, Raleigh police confirmed.
A dog was attacked in the 2200 block of Brewer Street. Raleigh Police Department animal control officers could not locate the fox following the attack. The dog’s rabies vaccination was up to date, and it received a booster, police said.
Officers responded to the 200 block of Doral Lane after a woman was attached by a fox.
Officers captured the fox. It later tested postie for rabies.
The female victim was advised to seek medical treatment for rabies exposure, police said.
The same fox is believed to have been been involved in both incidents.
Doral Lane and Brewer Street are no more than a quarter mile apart just off Wake Forest Road.
