3 nabbed, 3 guns found after chase with carjacked vehicle in Durham County

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Three men were arrested by deputies in Durham County on Saturday morning after a chase involving a carjacked vehicle that ended near I-85, officials said.

The incident happened when a suspicious person and vehicle were reported on Hardscrabble Drive around 9 a.m. Saturday, said Tamara Gibbs, spokeswoman with the Durham County Sheriff’s Office.

When deputies arrived, they checked a license plate on a car and determined it was stolen – linked to a carjacking case from Friday night, Gibbs said.

Just as a deputy got out of his cruiser to approach the car, the suspects in the stolen car sped off, Gibbs said.

Deputies chased the car and caught the three men off I-85 at Guess Road.

Three handguns and several other items were seized from the car by deputies.

Durham Police are investigating the carjacking aspect of the case.

The names and charges for the three men were not immediately available.
