Man shot in face, neck and knee in Fayetteville restaurant parking lot

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A man suffered life-threatening injuries in a daylight shooting at the Smokey Bones restaurant parking lot at Cross Creek Mall in Fayetteville on Tuesday evening.

At 7:12 pm, Fayetteville Police responded to Smokey Bones restaurant at 1891 Skibo Road to a report of a shooting.

The Smokey Bones restaurant is located in the mall parking lot and as of 10 p.m. there was still a heavy police presence in the area — with the entire restaurant parking lot surrounded by police tape.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a man was shot in the parking lot by another man, police said. Police identified the victim on Wednesday as Alegeria Khalyid McNair, 21.

Police said McNair was shot in the face, neck and knee and was transported to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill with life-threatening injuries.

Police told CBS North Carolina the victim and suspect know each other and that there was a strong smell of marijuana at the shooting site.

Police also say McNair was at the restaurant alone before the shooting occurred.

One waitress’s car was struck by gun fire in the parking lot.

Police are now reviewing surveillance video to learn more about the shooter.

Detectives with the FPD’s Aggravated Assault Unit are actively investigating the shooting and are requesting anyone with information, to contact them.
