Just after 7:15 a.m., Patrick’s vehicle ran a red light and collided with a motorcyclist, identified as Shaun R.J. Murdock, 38, of Wilmington, near the intersection of South College Road and Peachtree Avenue, which is between Wrightsville Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard.

Evidence suggests Murdock was heading south on South College Road toward Oleander Drive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Patrick left the scene traveling east on Kerr Avenue when a trooper performed a precision immobilization technique, known as a PIT maneuver, to stop the vehicle at the intersection of MacMillan Avenue and Pine Grove Drive, according to officials.

Patrick was arrested near Winter Park Elementary around 10:30 a.m. after being put through a full battery of tests, including a field sobriety test. He was charged with speeding, reckless driving, felony hit and run, felony speed to elude arrest and misdemeanor death by vehicle.
