RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A Hoke County mother won a $100,000 Powerball prize using her children’s ages.

“It’s the best Mother’s Day present I could ask for,” Kimberly Goins said in a written release.

Goins, a live-in health care worker, picked her numbers using a combination of her children’s ages and grandson’s birthday.

Goins claimed her prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, she received $69,250. Goins said she will use the money to help pay bills.

The Hoke County mother purchased the winning $3 Power Play ticket at the Hasty Mart on South Main Street in Wake Forest.
