Masked gunman caught on video in NC gas station robbery

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Authorities are searching for a masked gunman who robbed a gas station Tuesday morning in Fayetteville.

The incident happened at about 9:54 a.m. at the Marathon Gas Station at 5000 Ramsey Street, according to Fayetteville Police.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a man entered the business, approached the cash register with a gun in hand, and demanded cash from the register, police said in a statement.

“The suspect obtained cash from the register and fled on foot down Treetop Drive,” police said.

The suspect was described as a black man, 5-feet 9-inches tall to 6-feet 1-inches tall, wearing a black jacket, dark jeans, a gray, a fitted baseball style cap, and a mask covering his nose and mouth.

Detectives have obtained images from the business and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.
