NC mom and child escape after car and tractor-trailer collide

ABERDEEN, N.C. (WNCN) – A car smashed into a truck Wednesday morning at the intersection U.S. 1 and U.S. 15-5-1, according to the Cypress Pointe Fire department.

Both occupants of the car got out safely despite heavy damage, according to a person with Cypress Pointe Fire.

The Aberdeen Times reported that a mother and child were able to get out of the car before first responders reached the scene.

The two were reportedly taken to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst with injuries that were not life threatening, the paper reported.

The driver of the truck was not hurt in the crash.  The car, a Buick, was heavily damaged in the incident.
