Pinecrest High School wins 4A golf championship

PINEHURST, N.C. (WNCN) – Pinecrest High School won its third state title in four years at the 4A Boy’s State Golf Championship in Pinehurst Tuesday.

Pinecrest took on Charlotte’s Myers Park.

The championship came down to the final hole, where Pinecrest’s Eric Bay rolled in the birdie putt after making an eagle on the 17th hole.

The Patriots beat Myers Park by one stroke.

Cary’s Green Hope High School also had an outstanding second day and finished fourth in the competition.

Leesville Road’s Doc Redman won the individual title, shooting 71 and 69 for a two day total of four under par.
