FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Fayetteville firefighters responded to a residential fire at 1010 Ellis St.
Fire officials responded to the fire just before 11:45 a.m. Crews reported heavy smoke from all sides of the single-fame home.
Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire, but the home suffered substantial fire and smoke damage throughout, officials said. No one was home at the time of the fire.
One firefighter became ill while battling the fire. He was transported to Cape Fear Valley medical Center by ambulance and is listed in stable condition.
The fire was determined to have started in the area of the den, but the cause is still under investigation.
Red Cross was contacted to assist the occupant of the home.
The combined contents and building loss is estimated to be at $30,000.
