GRIFTON, N.C. (WNCN) — According to the Hugo Volunteer Fire & Rescue Facebook page, a fireman with their department died on Thursday.
Jay Tyndall, age 48, of Hugo died after suffering an aneurysm earlier in the week, according to family members who set up a GoFundMe page for Tyndall’s family.
Tyndall was married and had two children, according to friends and his Facebook profile.
Tyndall was awarded Rookie of the Year in 2015, according to Hugo Volunteer Fire & Rescue.
Tyndall was from Kinston and was a graduate of South Lenior High School, according to his Facebook profile.
“It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of one of our most dedicated firefighters, Jay Tyndall,” Hugo Volunteer Fire & Rescue wrote on Facebook.
“He will be missed by his brothers and sisters at Hugo Fire and Rescue. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers at this most difficult time,” the fire department officials said.
Tyndall was also an avid drummer.
