No injuries were sustained, but according to Beaufort County officials, four women were dumped in Taylor’s Creek as the dock collapsed at 218 Front Street.

An off-duty coast guardsman, entered the water — which is about 10 feet deep — and helped the women out of the creek.

Beaufort EMS checked on all of the individuals and nobody was injured.

The group was trying to take a photo on the pier when it collapsed around 7:40 p.m.

The women are taking full responsibility and not seeking civil action due to them removing the rope that was preventing access to the pier, officials say

According to the a Beaufort inspector, the dock collapsed due to rusty nails, old boards and no fasteners. It was over 20 years old.

Inspectors aren’t required to check, but they can be requested at anytime. Insurance companies can also request inspections.
