OREGON INLET, N.C. (WECT) – The Coast Guard and a good Samaritan rescued two men off a capsized boat near Oregon Inlet Saturday.
Watchstanders at the Sector North Carolina Command Center in Wilmington received a report around 12 p.m. that a 23-foot boat with two men aboard had capsized.
A good Samaritan took the two men aboard and was waiting for assistance from the Coast Guard.
A 29-foot Response Boat-small crew and a 24-foot Special Purpose Craft-Shallow Water crew were launched from Station Oregon Inlet at approximately 12:19 p.m.
They arrived on scene at 12:25 p.m. and took aboard the two men from the capsized boat.
The Coast Guard righted the vessel and towed it until Sea Tow arrived and took over.
Sea Tow took the boat to Wanchese Harbor where it was fixed.
No injuries were reported.
