FORT BRAGG, N.C. (WNCN) — A history making Major League Baseball game in North Carolina is less than 50 days away.
The Atlanta Braves will take on the Miami Marlins at Fort Bragg on July 3.
The event will mark the first regular season game of a professional sport ever played on an active military base.
A temporary ball park is being set up on Pope Army Airfield.
The ball park will accommodate more than 12,000 people.
On Monday there were crews at work.
“We got the infield in last week, next week the out field comes, got folks out here today starting to build up the bleachers, they’re gonna be put in temporary bleachers, so there’s a robust production schedule,” said ERIC HILL of FORT BRAGG.
The vast majority of tickets are reserved for soldiers and their families.
In the coming weeks, there will be contests for others to win a ticket.
