ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – A man has died after being hit by multiple vehicles following a domestic situation in Asheville on Sunday.

Avery Stephen Moses, 19, of Asheville, followed his ex-girlfriend to a McDonald’s near Interstate 26 on Long Shoals Road where he intentionally hit her vehicle, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

Moses then forced her into his vehicle and drove to I-26. Two witness followed him there.

Moses stopped on the I-26 ramp near exit 37 and the witnesses were able to talk to him and get the woman out of the vehicle.

They turned the vehicle off and took the keys.

The witnesses started to call 911 when Moses ran from the vehicle.

The witness told police that Moses looked distraught and “threw himself” into an oncoming vehicle.

He was thrown to the opposite side of I-26 after he was hit by a tractor trailer.

Two more vehicles stuck his body, troopers say.

Troopers say Moses was pronounced dead on the scene.

Highway Patrol will continue to investigate to find out if drugs or alcohol were involved.

Anyone who was a witness to the incident is encouraged to contact Asheville Police Department Detective Anthony Johnson at (828) 259-5929.
